Biography
Dr. John Scott, a native of Bessemer, Alabama, holds degrees from the University of Alabama, Ball State University (Indiana), and the University of Southern California. After a 22-year career as an Air Force pilot, he served as an administrator and faculty member at the University of Alabama until 2005.
Pastor Scott was ordained as a deacon in 1982 at First Baptist Church of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and as a minister in 2003 when called to be pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Brookwood, Alabama. He became our pastor on June 1, 2004.
He and his wife Sarah, a Brookwood native, married in 1966. Sarah holds master's degrees in social work from the University of Alabama and special education from Hampton University (Virginia). Their daughter Erin serves as youth leader and Sunday School teacher at Big Hurricane; their son Jeremy lives in Missouri with his wife Charity and their daughter Sofia. |
