A Family and Community in Christ
Big Hurricane Baptist Church is a Bible-centered, Southern Baptist Church focused on ministering to our congregation and the Brookwood community. On Sunday mornings we have Bible Study classes for every age, and our Worship Services seek to provide spiritual healing and growth while encouraging faith in Jesus Christ.
Our Sunday and Wednesday evening programs provide time for Christian discipleship, fellowship, and family fun. We believe interacting with other Christians is an important part of a believer's growth, and our evening activities provide enjoyable ways to make friends, share experiences, and grow spiritually in a loving environment. Formal or casual, you're always welcome.

History
Church meetings were first held on this site sometime between 1827 and 1832, and oral tradition holds that meetings began in 1831. Named for nearby Big Hurricane Creek, the church was officially constituted in September 1838 by 24 members of the Sardis Baptist Church. The church was admitted to the Tuscaloosa County Baptist Association in 1839 and joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Association in 1941. Through its history, the church has built several buildings in this vicinity to serve the Lord and people of the Brookwood community. Current sanctuary dedicated September 15, 2002.
